Mac repair without the guesswork

Macs are well built, but they are also tightly integrated. On recent MacBooks the memory and storage are part of the logic board, displays are usually replaced as a full lid assembly, and batteries are glued in place. That changes what a sensible repair looks like. The most common jobs are battery replacements, cracked or failing displays, keyboards with stuck or repeating keys, USB-C and MagSafe charging faults, liquid spills and Macs that have slowed down or won’t finish a macOS update.

Because storage is soldered and encrypted on many newer Macs, a logic board failure can take your files with it. So before any repair that touches the board, we check for a current Time Machine or iCloud backup and help you make one if the Mac still runs. We are an independent service, not an Apple Authorized Service Provider, which suits Macs out of warranty, owners who want a second opinion and anyone who prefers a local repair. Already lost files? What we repair

  • Batteries A new battery when runtime has dropped, the Mac shuts down with charge left, or System Settings reports that the battery needs service.
  • Displays Cracked glass, lines, dead backlights and “stage light” or pink-tint faults diagnosed, with the display assembly replaced where needed.
  • Typing and trackpad problems Repeating, sticky or dead keys and trackpads that stop clicking, including butterfly-era MacBook keyboards.
  • Charging and power MagSafe and USB-C charging faults, plus Macs that won’t power on, traced through the port, the adapter and the charging circuit on the board.
  • Spill recovery Prompt teardown and cleaning to limit corrosion, followed by an honest view on whether the board can be saved.
  • macOS problems Stalled updates, start-up loops, a full startup disk and sluggish performance sorted, including a clean macOS reinstall when it helps.
  • iMac repair and upgrades Older iMacs with spinning hard drives moved to an SSD, plus display, power and fan faults assessed.
  • Moving to a new Mac Migration Assistant transfers, app sign-ins and a check that photos, mail and documents all came across.

Common questions

Do you use genuine Apple parts for MacBook repairs?

We’re an independent repair service, not an Apple Authorized Service Provider, and we’re not affiliated with Apple. We fit quality third-party or refurbished genuine parts, and your quote says which one and where it comes from. Where there is a choice of parts, we explain the differences in fit, features and price so you can decide.

Should I take my MacBook to Apple first if it’s covered by AppleCare?

Usually, yes. A covered fault is typically cheaper through Apple, and opening the Mac elsewhere can complicate coverage for that part. Check your status on Apple’s coverage page using the serial number. If the Mac is out of coverage, the damage isn’t covered, or you’d like a second opinion, we’re happy to quote.

How do I know if my MacBook battery needs replacing?

Open System Settings, go to Battery and select the info button beside Battery Health to see maximum capacity. Apple rates recent MacBook batteries for about 1,000 cycles, and System Information shows the cycle count under Power. In practice, shorter runtimes, shutdowns with charge left or a case that no longer sits flat mean it’s time.

Can you upgrade the storage or memory in my MacBook?

On most MacBooks from about 2016 onward, and on every Apple silicon MacBook, memory and storage are soldered to the logic board, so they can’t be upgraded after purchase. Older MacBooks and many older iMacs can take an SSD or more memory, which can make a big difference. Tell us the model year and we’ll say what is possible.

What happens to my files if my MacBook’s logic board fails?

On Macs with soldered, encrypted storage, the data lives on the board itself and can’t be read by removing a drive. If the board can be repaired to the point of starting up, files can often be copied off; if not, they may be lost. Component-level board repair is done by a specialist partner, and we quote it before the Mac leaves us. That’s why a current backup matters so much.
